To celebrate the important dates that have given Mexico its identity, we have produced this beautiful Catrina and called her Adelita, who came to be an archetype of a woman warrior in Mexico and a symbol of action and inspiration. Additionally, her name is used to refer to any woman who struggles and fights for her rights.
"La Adelita" is one of the most famous "corridos" (Mexican musical genre) of the Mexican Revolution and became synonymous with the term "soldadera" or female soldier, representing a vital force in the revolutionary war efforts due to their participation in the battles against Mexican government forces.
The traditional Adelita dress is made with a crinoline and very commonly with a ruffle at the base. As time progressed, different representations of dresses have been used by artists, but there’s two things that have not changed with time and which are considered the stereotype of an “Adelita”: The bullet belt, and the hat.
Our take, colors of the Mexican Flag; green, white and red on each ruffle and a distinctive charro hat, all with a gold trim.
As a brave soldier she could not miss carrying a bullet belt, which our artist has elaborated with such amazing detail.
We are so excited to present Adelita, one of our favorites of all times!
A Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist is included.
